NATURAL BEAUTY IN NASSAU

I can not get enough of this tropical chic wedding on Style Me Pretty. I literally look at it everyday and I don't know if it because the bride is so darn pretty with the nicest hair I've ever seen, or the scenery or what but I am hooked on it!

I love how she did her own hair and makeup, (something I said I was going to do but still not sure about that yet) and that the ceremony and reception were so small and intimate with only 30 guests. I also love that it took place at the One and Only Ocean Club in Nassau. I was there years ago with my parents and couldn't get over it's island elegance and the service we received, I mean the waiters came to your table and made your ceasar salad dressing in front of you!

Isn't it just TO DIE?!
Now, do I wear my hair down like her? or up like this:

WHAT I MADE LAST NIGHT

I made this molto healthy and super easy recipe last night night and Brian and I thought it was so good I had to share. Before I left work, I did a search for psta fagioli and came upon this winner:

  • 1 (29 ounce) can diced tomatoes

  • 2 (14 ounce) cans great cannelini beans, undrained

  • 1 (14 ounce) can chopped spinach, drained

  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth

  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce

  • 3 cups water

  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic

  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • handful of fresh basil

  • 1/2 pound dittalini

  • I have committed myself to eating no processed foods before the wedding and I am hoping that though there were a lot of canned ingredients in here, I did OK, minus the pasta. I'm sure using everything fresh would make this much better, but for a weekday dinner it ain't too shabby. Paired with a glass of sauvignon blanc and a multigrain baguette, delicioso!

    NIERMANN WEEKS RECAP

Last week I had the amazing opportunity of being one of the New York Design Center's Blogger Ambassadors for What's New What's Next. All of the showrooms at the NYDC came out to play to show us what's new and what's next, and very well-attended with the biggest names in design mingling and signing books, and spilling the beans on their latest projects.

That's me with Eleanor McKay, who is the wife of Joe Niermann heading up the Niermann Weeks team :)

I was the blogger at the Niermann Weeks showroom which was celebrating a Grand Opening at the event in conjunction with a book signing by Matthew Patrick Smyth of his new book Living Traditions and introduced by TradHome's Editor in Chief Ann Omvig Maine.

I met the daughters of Joe Niermann and Eleanor McKay who were demonstrating their beading technique for the Niermann Weeks chandeliers. They told me that they started at 5 years old earning a quarter for every strand they finished!

Such nice and down to earth people, I am so happy to have gotten to know them.

They business is 100% family run and based down in Annapolis. Everything is made here in the US of A and they employ about 70 people.

Bloggers Tamara Stephenson of nestnestnest, me, Lydia of lydiabarrykutko.com,  Michelle Varian of and Raina Kattelson - a great group!!

An amazing time was had by all, and I'm so honored to have been the Blogger Ambassador for the timelessly chic brand that is Niermann Weeks

Side Note: I lost my iphone right after the event which had all my photos from the event on it! Long story short, I left it in the cab on my way to Grand Central, spoke to the driver on Brian's phone shortly after, driver said he would come meet us, driver turned off phone and never showed up, I tracked him down days later after finding out the cab # from my credit card statement, threatened to get the police involved, and I'm getting my phone back this week!!!! Gotta love NYC.

because I lost photos these people were generous enough to let me use theirs:

    Which Bag?

Hi Lovelies! Happy Friday! In full swing wedding mode here :) Oh, and I must make one confession from yesterday's post on my pre-wedding regimen. For dinner I thought it was appropriate to have nachos followed by a buffalo chicken sandwich, like really Liz??? I wanted you all to know just so you see we're not all perfect :)

OK but on a serious note, everyone at the wedding will be getting welcome bags filled with goodies. I'm getting a special one for all the bridemaids though with different things filled inside and am torn between these two bags:

actually, I'm leaning toward the stripes with a big coral bow tied on the straps.
    How about you???

    PRE-WEDDING REGIMEN

SO the one month countdown to our wedding began this past weekend! It hasn't really hit me until this week that the wedding is actually, really happening!! It has kind of seemed like a dream/fantasy this whole time and now I am fully aware of its reality and more excited than ever, last night I could barely sleep! Little by little I've been preparing goodies for our guests which I really don't want to reveal until AFTER the big day but very vaguely, there will be beachy goodness galore! I am aiming for very tasteful, elegant beach decor, nothing over the top to take away from the natural beauty of a wedding on the beach.

Our guest count is up to about 130 which we are so thrilled about since just about every single person is travelling via plane to get there. Most people will arrive on Thursday in time for a little welcome soiree at my parent's house. On Friday there will be a men's golf tournament and I'm still deciding on whether or not to arrange a paddleboarding outing. I know lots of people want to try it but I'm not sure if their first day on vacation they want to jump right into the water sports or lounge by the pool/beach. I'm thinking keep it optional and recruit some bridesmaids and whoever wants in is in, out is out :) Friday night is the rehearsal dinner at a local seafood restaurant, nothing fancy, followed by a welcome party at our favorite tiki bar, the Square Grouper. Note to self, go home by 11:00 PM!

Saturday is the day, and I have my heart set on starting it with a nice walk on the beach with my mom. Shortly after, the prep begins and wedding at 5:00. Brian and I leave for Maui on Sunday night - I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!

Ok but the whole point of this post was to share with you, so you can help me keep on track, my pre-wedding health regimen. I started last week with these goals in mind but really really want to stick to them and am hoping you will help with your encouraging comments :)

    1. Drinking lots and lots of water. I fill up at 33 oz pitcher about 3x/day and when I can, I squeeze a little lemon in for some flavor. I also drink the occasional coconut water by Vita Coco which is very good and really hydrates you.
    2. Less blow drying of the hair. During the week, I've been letting it air-dry which has it's good days and bad. On the bad, it's in a clip :)
    3. Getting to bed early, 10:30-11 and trying to get a full 8 hours/night.
    4. Using my new Clinique face cleansing system religiously. My friend Gwennie came out to visit from Chicago and I couldn't get over how even and radiant her skin looked and she told me she started using the Clinque Acne Solutions system. I went out and bought it the next day and it really seems to be working!! I'm hoping I have the clearest even skin for the wedding.
    5. Work out at least 3x/week. I can't stand treadmills and elipticals so my work outs consist of weights and walking Jack these days. I use 8 lb free weights for my arms, use a few of the leg machines at the gym, and am shooting for 50-100 crunches.
    6. Eating lots of fruits and salads. I've been starting everyday with a grapefruit and banana and get an apple in at some point in the afternoon. Lunch has been salad and dinner, I just try and stay healthy.
    7. Nails, just trying not to "use my hands as tools" as my mom says.
    8. Keeping my schedule light so I don't get overwhelmed and stressed out with work and social events!
Woosh I know that was long-winded but glad I got it all out there!

KEEP CALM AND THINK OF THE BEACH

Yesterday when I got home from work, while Brian was watching his beloved Sports Center, I made my own version of the ever-so-popular "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster using this new program on my macbook.

As much as I hate being glued to my computer I really enjoyed getting creative and seeing my vision come to life.

    So, here she is:

    Beachy Sweetness

As most of you know, our beach wedding is right around the corner on October 15th!! I've been thinking about cute little treats for the welcome bags and started looking for inspiration on Etsy & Pinterest - just WAIT until you see all these beachy treats:

how cute are these puppies?? Now, do I make them or buy them? I would love to make them, but the time, where does it come from?!
