Surfer Chic

Maybe it's because I just got back from my bachelorette party in Montauk { :) } but I have surfer chic on my mind. I love the bohemian-esque, sleek, cool, non-conformist way of living the style represents.
The house we were renting had this Leroy Grannis book on the coffee table, I loved looking through the surfer photography.

We spent a few night galavanting around at The Surf Lodge, Montauk. A very hip & trendy bar and motel on the water

SIMPLE DAISY

I'm writing today's post on one of my favorite bloggers, Simple Daisy. I was reading Heather's blog last night while watching the Oprah finale and I couldn't help the tears. Heather is probably the most real, down to earth, and positive bloggers I follow. Though I've never met her, I feel as though I know her like a friend, and visiting her blog inspires me and makes me feel good inside.

I'm sure many of you already know of Heather, but if you don't, please take a visit and follow Simple Daisy, her blog. You'll be happy you did! Here are some clips and pics from her most recent post:

"Life is about today.  What you do each moment of your life matters.
Dreams are absolutely necessary ....just as is choosing to be happy no matter what your situation."

"Appreciate everything.
Appreciate the one your with.
Appreciate your children {if you have them}
Appreciate the friends & family who love you
but most important.
Appreciate who you are....right at this very minute.
Appreciate just what you have to offer the world."

"I appreciate that while I ride this highway we call life......I am moving forward on a path that is created by me:)"

Do you spend your days appreciating your life?!?!!?

"In a blink of an eye.....it's over....at least that's what my great grandma used to tell me and she lived to be 92. 'Blink your eyes and that's how fast your life goes!'"

Heather also has an Etsy shop where she sells her handmade beach inspired jewelry. I bought some Christmas presents from her and everyone LOVED them :)

CHANCE

I've been seeing Chance around a lot lately and I am in love, swooning over this brand. It's beachy-sexy and charming and chic and everything I want to be :)

Items from Chance can be purchased online and good news for New Yorkers, you can visit the Chance pop-up shop all summer long on Elizabeth Street in Nolita. Owner Julia Leach describes the brand as  the culmination of a series of chance, or near-chance, encounters.

Countertop Couture Giveaway

Lois, artist and creator of Countertop Couture has been working in interior design her whole life focusing on color selections and decorative painting in the home. Inspired by all of the beauty in the  homes she worked on, Lois decided to create a line of elegant jars to compliment that beauty and function as storage to keep out on your counter.

I fell in love with Lois's coastal jars and I know you will, too. They are the perfect functioning accessory to keep on your counter and house your pasta, coffee, dog biscuits, or in the bathroom for your cotton balls, Q-tips, etc... I would love to see them in a grouping on the counter!

WEEKEND RECAP - GETTING READY FOR THE SHOP!

Happy Monday Lovelies! I have a busy week ahead getting ready to open my new space on June 1st! Brian and I worked hard all weekend getting things ready, and I'd say I'm about 35% done. Yes, I work best under pressure, especially because I am celebrating my bachelorette this weekend in Montauk!

A glimpse at the past few days:

Friday night with friends at Bar Taco in Portchester, NY, which is my new favorite place in the area, Shorely Chic to the max! The vibe of the place is so cool, they have a section on their website titled, 'feel', and this is what you see:

I mean, amazing!

I had a great morning on Saturday chatting with my graphic designer/web designer/wedding invitation maker, the incredible Kathleen Burlew :) I need to start gathering inspiration for the invites and Kathleen is going to put together some design ideas for me, can't wait!

I just check out a few that I liked:

BLOGFEST 2011 - DAY THREE, PART 1: Kravet & Lee Jofa Tour

Oh.my.goodness, what a day, what a week!! Blogfest 2011 has me so inspired I can barely think straight! Three days of pure design blog LOVE, meeting the best of the best in design, celebrity designers, editors, touring premiere design centers, learning about how my favorite Kravet & Lee Jofa fabrics are designed and made, and maybe the best part of all, meeting my fellow bloggers who I know call my friends!

What a wild experience, and one I will cherish forever. I can not wait for Blogfest 2012, can't imagine how Kravet will top this one!

The incredible Jennifer Powell of Kravet below who was a large part in making Blogfest 2011 the incredible extravaganza that it was for us bloggers and designers.

Here she is in her office at Kravet before taking us on a tour of the Kravet & Lee Jofa headquarters.

Inspiration boards. Love the exploration of scenes and fashion that goes into the designing process. As designers we all need to be inspired and capturing on boards is the best way for me, and apparently them!

Lilly Pulitzer for Lee Jofe, all lined up and pretty!

A neat fact: The word 'Lilly' ca be found in each pattern, see it marked here?

Moving onto Kravet:
eeee!! pretty

loved seeing the capability of the design systems, if you can see the monitors, you'll see the play with color from color to turquoise. These images get printed and eventually end up on the fabrics

 cool stuff!!

more beauty

Kravet does a lot of work for Disney, and we were told that in every Disney fabric you can see mickey and minnie, can you spot them below??
