Dream Big and Often

I cant stop telling my friends and family about this story I learned of this week, and I can't think of a more enthusiastic audience to share it with than you! The other morning on the Today Show, Meredith interviewed a 62 year old woman named Antoinette who left her law career to become a chocolatier. She left her job, enrolled in culinary school, and within a few years bought an old house and transformed it into Antoinette's Chocolatier. Antoinette had never worked so hard but never felt better, so satisfied and most importantly, happy. In the three years she has been in business, she is barely braking even, but again, has never been happier.

This little story which I was watching before jetting off to my day job, reminded me how important it is to be in touch with your passions and doing whatever you can to keep you dreams alive. Even if you are not in a position to up and leave your job, pay for school, etc... you can explore and plot and with enough drive and dedication you can make your dreams come to life and you WILL be successful!

Look at me, Shorely Chic is an ever evolving dream and I keep it alive with my daily inspirations and little online shop. I still have a day job, go to school on the side for what I love, and work tirelessly on my shop and keeping up with blogging, facebook, twitter, etc... I have never been busier, but have never been happier!

Okay, enough preaching for the day, hehe!! Make it a great one!!

And one thing to remember, it doesn't happen overnight.

  1. i can definitely relate to this!

  2. LOVE these sort of stories. I've written several pieces this year about older women (in the 80s and even 90s) who are involved in the creative arts - whether you're just started or continuing a career it's crucial to be doing what you love!!

  3. Stories like this one sure help one to keep plodding along. Thanks for sharing!

  4. I adore this! It is so beyond true, and I can completely relate with you.

  5. A great inspirational story. Thanks for sharing, I think we all need to hear these and remind ourselves to be brave and work hard. Love the last quote! :)

  6. Hi Liz! Couldn't agree with you more! Have a similar post on my blogeroo today. Like BHL said up above, it's nice to know that others are also just pushing forward towards those big dreams.

  7. I saw the piece on Today! She was darling - a one woman show. And, so true ----- I am having a ball just blogging away. I had a corporate career for 14 years and that never really fulfilled me.

How great you are following your dreams and encouraging others along the way!

  8. Great post!! I was just working on a similar post!! I feel like I'm doing what I've always wanted to do! Congratulations on your engagement!

  9. Love this attitude! I apply it in my business as well. Do what you love and the rest will come...and it definitely doesn't come overnight, being patient is sometimes the hardest part, but we'll get there!
