A PEAK INTO SHORELY CHIC

I realized I haven't posted pics from  my own abode in quite some time, so I thought this morning while I was putzing around would be a good time to take some pics.

Brian and I are currently living in the in-law suite of my parents' home in Connecticut while we save money and look for our perfect home (by the beach) which in our area can be pretty costly. We made the decision to wait until we find what's just right for us and we are very lucky to have this little pad to call home for this time.

Jack loves it because his adoring grandparents are right next door and they spoil him rotten with new treats just about every day. He knows when his grandma comes and goes and darts over across the yard for a bone - it's sweet really.

So anyways, here are a couple pics of my favorite little places and things. I just started decorating for the holidays so you'll see home festivity happening around...

I love this little Madonna and Child brought back from my time Florence - reminds me of one of my favorite artists, Della Robia

a little start...

Soooo there you have it, it's not as chic as the homes I post on here, but it serves its purpose for now, we're happy, and one day (hopefully soon) I'll have a Shorely Chic blog-worthy abode!!

COASTAL CHRISTMAS WREATHS

I'm going to make our Christmas wreath for this year tonight to hang over the mirror in our "foyer" and you know I just have to add a few coastal items - I'm thinking starfish with a leaf based wreath hung by a pretty tartan plaid ribbon...

Check these out:

these are the type of leaves I want - what are they?

love these leaves, too

obsessed with this one

a classic that just never gets old to me...

annd vearing off the topic, I could't resist:

pretty for a mantle or atop a cabinet/armoir, eh?

My Dream Thanksgiving on the Beach

If I could, this year I would host thanksgiving on the beach. I would have lots of flannel blankets and shawls for people to wrap around themselves when it got chilly, a nice bonfire off to the side, and a beautiful rectangular table dressed in layers of natural linens.  There would be lots candles on tall silver mismatched holders, white pumpkins, seashells, and cranberries drizzled around for color. Wouldn't that be pretty?

Brian and I are not having Thanksgiving this year, but if we were you bet I would do my darndest to make that happen. In the meantime, the next best thing:

I love the simplicity of this, and the brightness just makes me happy :)

pretty silver pedestals perfect for nuts, or anything really...

I guess I really like white pumpkins...the only thing missing is the seashells - come on people!

However, I did discover a new blog which had an awesome DIY post on fabric pumpkins:

how lovely is that?! Imagine the pretty you can make with beautiful fabrics and seashells!

Wooden Beam Ceilings

I'm trying to decide if I like raw wood exposed on the ceiling. I definitely like painted wooden beam ceilings and thought I would like the raw wood to create a driftwood/beachy effect but I'm not sure whether or not it looks too rustic.

it's pretty cool here mixed with the painted beams

I do like it above

love these crisp white ones, not sure about that chandelier though... too "goth" for me

like it here

LOVE this

very pretty

pretty but I wish it was more gray, like driftwood looking

SO I think what I like are a few exposed grayish wood beams stretched out across an angled ceiling that is painted white...

How about you???
