Beach Eclectic

I love 'Beach Eclectic': a collection of old and new world objects, highlighted with tropical plants and shells to create a unified beachy casual, yet elegant and worldly look.

This is probably how I would describe my style most. I detest anything that looks too 'matchy-matchy' and like an interior that reflects the person living in it. I like to see souveneirs and shells picked up from the beach, and family portraits, and art work that's been passed down. I would hate to see all these personal objects and touches go away to the look from the pages of a Pottery Barn catelog (not that there is anything wrong with Pottery Barn, but it has to be in doses).

I have so many things that I love and cherish and no matter if they 'go' or not, I love them too much not to look at them everyday. This, however, can be dangerous for the clutter-prone so make sure to get a second opinion on how your guests feel in your room, if they feel smothered with 'things' you're going to have to cut back. I guess you want them to feel like they are getting to know you better while still feeling refreshed and comfortable.

The photos below do this look perfect justice:

Wedding Decisions & Update

I've made some more decisions but need your help with one! I'm deciding between these two place cards ideas, which do you prefer?

A is definitely more fun and casual while B is more elegant. I can't resist the cuteness of A, and the understated elegance of B. Help!

Also, I've found the necklace I will wear on my wedding day and it is from one of my great friends, Suzanne Somersall whose jewelry line I am so privileged to carry in my shop!

So what do you think?

UPDATE: Brian just told me he likes B, more elegant, in his words, "it's not a Hawaiian Shirt beachy party, its a wedding". Point well taken, so how about the chairs for the rehearsal dinner?!

A Little Refreshment for your Friday

There is nothing I love better than an interior that is light and airy which is the perfect combination for that refreshing feeling we all need when we walk through the doors of our homes.

In the winter months, the interiors we see are mostly dark and cozy, quite the opposite from the summer looks we love and I couldn't resist sharing these photos from Mabley Handler:

hmm...don't you think my modern chic pillow would fit in nicely with this home?!

Molly Wood Garden Design

Well I looked out my window this morning and could barely see!

I had heard of Molly Wood Garden Design so I took a peak to see what she was all about, and what a pleasant treat I had this morning looking though all of her designs. Rustic and beachy, yet elegant = perfection :

I absolutely LOVE these jute cubes which can be used as a table top connected together, our as a seat for guests in smaller living room:
buy them here

I could REALLY use some beach right now, but I think I got the rustic taken care of:

Happy Shoveling for those in the Northeast!

Smell the Sea and Feel the Sky

As I was laying in bed last night, an idea popped into my head and I got so excited I couldn't fall asleep.  While I was on vacation, I was so enthralled with my new camera, snapping literally hundreds of photos on different beachy scenery. I couldn't wait to share them on the blog, and thought maybe I'll list some on Etsy and just see if anyone might be interested in purchasing one. I am by NO MEANS a professional in photography but I'm really growing this passion, and whenever you create anything with passion, it shows.

I love music, too. LOVE IT. I do everything with music on in the background and love remembering cool lyrics and sharing them with people I love.

SO I thought, why not put the lyrics on my new found art form!!

What do you think?? Would you buy one? What do you think makes good art, worth spending say $19 on? And be honest, please!

When I Come Back, I Want To Be A Surfer

Yep. When I come back, I'm going to be a surfer. I'll decorate houses when it's not nice out, and when the weather is good, I will be on the beach all day under the sun with my buddies riding the waves...haha.

There are lots of surfers in the Jupiter Beach area, and I felt like I was in constant contact with them all weekend, they were all over the place.

I've been wanting ukelele music for our wedding ceremony and we randomly ran into these two surfer dudes who play when they aren't surfing, nice huh? We told them they had a year to practice!
