Press!!

This blog is very much a diary of me trying to make it the world of interior design, and this post is just me sharing some good press with my readers! The Darien News (local paper/website) has been so nice to us local entrepreneurs and they came to our most recent trunk show to write a story on us! Here is the paper below which we made the cover of (business section)!

Company Crush: TOMS

I LOVE shoes, especially TOMS shoes. I discovered them one day during my lunch break while living and working in NYC. They were so adorable, cotton mocassin type shoes with bold cream and pink stripes.

I immediately went online and looked up TOMS and found out that I had also just bought a pair of shoes for a child in need. Such a cool company, they actually donate one pair of shoea for every pair sold, how cool is that??

"TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what we're all about. The TOMS One for One business model transforms our customers into benefactors, which allows us to grow a truly sustainable business rather than depending on fundraising for support." - toms.com

Here is me in my TOMS (brian told me a joke while he was taking the picture which is why my face is all scrunched up)

so next time you need shoes, go to toms.com and buy a pair for a person in need!

Shabby & Shorely...

I consider Shabby Chic a sister to Shorely Chic. Shabby lives in a Parisian or English apartment and likes to drink tea out of floral china cups and Shorely lives on the coast and loves white wine sangria.

The two share many common traits like a relaxed style and use of whites and neutrals. They both LOVE white slipcovers, in fact, Shabby introduced them to the world and Shorely kind of copied! They both strive to create a peaceful and refreshing environment for their inhabitants, Shabby with more of an English Country feel and Shorely with a more beach/ocean influence.

Here are some elegant shabby chic interiors courtesy of decorpad I just had to share...

gorgeous aren't they?

Now here is a bit more of the Shorely Chic look, not 100% but getting there...

thanks for reading :)

Great Things from Darien Trunk Show

Happy Sunday to you all! I've really missed blogging these past few days as everything kind of took a back seat during the three-day trunk show this weekend at Megan Dey Photography. Megan had Shorely Chic, Itty Bitty Bag and Spotted Dog Jewelry.

It's been so wonderful living in a town with such strong support for local small businesses, I just love it! We even had press there and will have an article in the Darien News!

The trunk show was great with a smashing Thursday night turnout with lots of buyers and yummy prosecco to go around. So many of my friends and family showed up and lots of people from around town.

Here are some photos I took of my set-up. Party pics will be up later :)

there's me all excited before Thursday's kick-off party

two cuties of Itty Bitty Bag hanging with me

I love doing these trunk shows and parties, if you'd like to have one in your home or shop, please email me!

A Summer Favorite: Outdoor Showers

There is just something so fun and adventurous about taking a shower outside isn't there? After a long day at the beach, it's such a treat to scoot out to the side of the house and let the clean water wash away all the salt and sand. It's a nice way to wind down from the day and start your relaxing evening which for me, would include a nice summery outfit, a cocktail perhaps, and a delicious summer dinner with Bob Marley on in the background...

I found some great photos of outdoor showers to get us excited for what's to come in just a few short months (even weeks)!

Getting Creative

Starting a business is so phenomenal and exciting and I have very little complaints, however, the one that gets to me the most is with all the business stuff (marketing, numbers, research, promoting), the creative end takes a hit. Well, at least in my case...

This weekend however I got down to the business I love, creating, and had an absolute blast with it!

Here are some photos of what I made:

oh, and then there's my new fave: Henry the Crab from Nantucket which I didn't create but fell in love with!

he's very chic and loves sitting on top of books about decor and travel:

As always, all of my creations are on sale at http://www.shorelychic.com/ - bloggers get a 10% discount, too :)

Design Crush: Tom Scheerer

I am just totally enamoured with the work of designer Tom Scheerer. I've been seeing a lot of him lately in all of the magazines so I decided to take a little visit to his website. I am even more obsessed now than ever - he has an entire beach collection of homes. I fell in love with this Salt Box in the Bahamas:
