ALYS BEACH

I was first introduced to this gem of a Florida town called Alys Beach by my friend Alli of Alli Beck Events. She had sent me some links and told me I would love it, and I think I am obsessed. I have never been but the photos of this New Urban community where you don't have to drive anywhere on the west coast of Florida is seriously calling my name.

PARTY RECAP

It has been QUITE the week here at Shorely Chic! The opening party for my store was on Wednesday night and I was ecstatic with the turnout and just overwhelmed with all the love and support from my colleagues, family, and friends. People came from all over the area to see what the store was all about and some even brought gifts!! As I was setting up my dear friends Austin and Jennifer of Mabley Handler Interior Design in the Hamptons had the most beautiful bouquet sent up which I have to say really set the tone for the whole night. Their kind gesture melted my heart and affirmed that I am right where I need to be :)

Bloggers Stacy of Quintessence, Jessica of the Entertaining House, Adare of Fairfield County 411, and Marcy of Stylesson came out, and it was SO great to catch up with all of you :)

My mom and Brian did so much work to help make it a success, serving people drinks and making them feel comfortable, running out to get more wine and food in the middle of the event because we ran out (!), mom for preparing all the food, and Brian for being my right hand and the BEST fiance a girl could ask for.

Me and Adare from Fairfield County 411 and her sweet friends Elizabeth and Lizzy :)

Oh and if you want to see me today, and tomorrow morning come by the Sidewalk Sales in Darien!!

Holiday in South Africa

I was completely swooning over AT Casa, am Italian website featuring the best in design across the world. Of course I typed in 'mare' for 'sea' in the search box as soon as I could find it. I came across this South African dream and couldn't wait to post it on today's blog:

Nautical Boys Bathroom

One of my very dear friends recently purchased a beautiful home on the beach and her first project is her sweet boys bathroom. We want to make it nautical without being, "themey" so lots of blues and whites and interesting and real elements like oars, porthole windows, beadboarding,  etc...

Not nautical but I pulled this image because I LOVE the walls. Not sure if these walls will be used in the bathroom, but shorely in another area!

This was the inspiration photo my friend initially pulled. We like the beadboard on the ceiling and top third for the walls

How cool is this antique bucket, would LOVE to see that happen but for practicality purposes, it may not be in the cards...

baskets with towels are always the perfect touch

yumminess... These sinks are perfect. I love the wood countertops with the nice round sink basins sitting on top with the faucets coming out of the walls. I would like to see the wood extended and made more of a countertop.

again with the clean lines and wood on white, unexpected and maybe a little modern looking for a nautical boys bathroom, but I think it will work perfectly!

I pulled this for the oars which we have to fit in somewhere. Maybe even just leaning on the wall like this.

OK, the stripes - I can't get them out of my mind. Not sure we should tile the walls or stripe them. What do YOU think?

I got it! We subway tile the walls with about an 8-inch row of the blue glass tiles that are being used for the shower in the center and on the top and beadboard the ceiling in one of the blues from the tile.

So wooden vanity with round sinks sitting on top, faucets coming out of the wall, subway tiled wall (or stripes??) and beadboard ceiling?

sidenote::
In my research, I found this gem. How amazing!?
