SO, I was supposed to open sesame on June 1st but that has been delayed a tad :) Brian and I are still setting up (God bless him, I could seriously not do this without his help) as of today. Thank you Brian, you are the best fiance on the planet!!! I plan on opening for a few hours on Saturday with a little sandwich board sign out front letting customers know I am open for business (still need to get that sandwich board). I have not marketed the heck out of it because I just want to see how it goes at first and once I'm settled and comfortable, I will get to it.
Throughout the summer, I will be working on other projects so the shop will not be IT. I will be open on Thursdays and Friday, and by appointment. It is upstairs so I can get away with that.
I did want to share a few photos with you that I took last night with my phone:
never mind the mess, you can kind of get the gist!!
What do you think, do you have suggestions? I want to hear all of what you think should be represented in Shorely Chic!!
Looking great!! I think entertaining is such a big part of summer. Would love to see lots of fun products in that category!!
ReplyDeleteI think you and your fiancee are doing a fantastic job, it's a huge job starting a business, and decorating / styling the space is the fun part, so enjoy it, even if it's a little nerve racking!!
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the luck in the world, have a wonderful and busy summer, looking forward to more images!
Northern Light
I feel like the top picture/area needs more color. It's very concentrated on the table right now. Maybe put something fun in that adorable basket on the wall. And a couple plants. Is that weird?
ReplyDeleteIt looks AMAZING! I use to work at a seashell shop (ridiculous sounding, I know!) and the one thing that always drew me in was the smell of the shop. Some of it is an organic by-the-shore smell, but there was always a coconut or seashore smelling candle being burned, or room spray... So I can't smell the shop from here, but that's my tip for you! :)

oh my gosh, you have the seashell trays I saw at the beach this weekend! Are you going to be selling online? I know that at one time you had one on your Etsy store, but I looked yesterday and I didn't see it. I also love those coral picture frames, I saw those as well and love them :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic! I would love to drop in on one of my drives through CT to MA! Open to blogger visitors???
ReplyDeleteI love it! I need to come visit!
ReplyDeleteVery beachic! Lovely and inviting!!..Don't forget fragrance. Are you carrying the LampBergere line? The best in my opinion for fragrancing the home and shop. Their original Ocean scent would be a wonderful addition. Best of Luck!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Liz! Must get some colorful loungers for guests to kick back on for the opening party :)
ReplyDeleteohhh nice! Love!
ReplyDeleteLooking good Liz! I think "hostesss gifts" would be a great seller this time of the year. Good luck!
ReplyDeletehow about selling some luxurious beach towels and sunhats and chic-lit books for beachreading? they all make great gifts. store looks good!
ReplyDeletehi Liz,
ReplyDeleteit looks like it is coming along just fine. congratulations on it all again and just know that you are an inspiration to us all, you will do GREAT!
maybe it needs to be a tad more relaxed with softer items like towels and sun hats as suggested by Meg ...but otherwise looks good so far...good luck with it ...all the best!
ReplyDeleteLet me know when the doors are open and I'll be sure to write about it on fairfieldcounty411 so I can send readers your way! Congrats on being almost there!
ReplyDeleteDear Liz,
ReplyDeleteI always love white.
Especially with pops of color.
How about some blue?
Best wishes.
Cheers,
Coastal Blue Ocean
I saw your post in the Etsy forum and thought I'd check out your blog. Your shop looks great! If I still lived in CT, I'd stop by to check it out. Good Luck with it!!
