So many of you liked the Chistmas card display idea from yesterday's post on wreathes, that I did a little more research to find other ways to display the gazillion cards we get each year. Check out these festive ideas:

this one (above) is still my fave

I have an idea up my sleeve that I hope I will be able to post soon! The one and only thing I need is time.

Chic Wreathes

This Christmas I am all about the Chic Wreath. I love them fresh, I love boxwood and using other evergreens, and scattered all over the home.

A Pecan Pie and Thanksgiving Table

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend, Ya'll (I'm totally not from the South but I love saying "ya'll")! This is my first Thanksgiving spent away from my family and with my future inlaws. Although it is hard to leave my family on the holidays, I really love Brian's family and I guess this is how it goes, right?

I can't WAIT to host our own Thanksgiving one day, maybe next year -!- and I want it to be so pretty and special, something I will want to put up on the blog! I love the pomegranite with the gold writing, how pretty is that?

And here is the Pecan Pie I will be bringing with my to Brian's:

Ingredients:
1 9-inch pie shell freshly made
1 1/4 cups pecans, coarsely chopped
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp molasses
2 Tbsp melted butter
2 Tbsp flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Method

1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Spread pecans along the bottom of the pie shell. Mix the remaining ingredients and pour over pecans. (No need for an electric mixer, you can mix by hand.) The pecans will rise to the surface of the pie.
2. Bake at 375°F for 40-45 minutes until the filling has set. About 20 minutes into the cooking you may want to use a pie crust protector, or tent the edges of the pie crust with aluminum foil to prevent the pie crust edges from burning.
3. Remove from oven and let cool completely.

Ooh and Aah, and Buy!

Browsing around looking for inpiration per my usual is one of my favroite ways to pass the time, when I am in relax mode. Recently, I've been searching around my decorating sources to match some of the items that I see, or at least ones that resemble these always new favorites of mine. I decided to share this with you, and list images of the items I like and can purchase, and thought why not offer these to you for puchasing as well. You can email me regarding any item you see that I've posted, and I will email a tear sheet to you, as if you were my client.

As much fun as ooohing and aaahing is, wouldn't it be great if these things were within our reach! Well here on SC, they are! Once I get around to it, I'll post them on my shopping website as well.

Let's see how it goes!

Stopping to Smell the Ocean...

I do these posts every so often when I step outside my normal routine and realize how refreshing it is to stop and smell the ocean (yes, even in the winter). Brian and I had such a nice Sunday driving around and stopping off at the water to just take a breather and enjoy where we live. We toured Southport, CT yesterday and I fell in love. Just twenty minutes away, I had never seen the gorgeous homes and lovely scenery...

he's really good at taking our photo, so we don't have to bother anyone around us to stop and take a pic

we even got in some nice shelling

isn't the sky so pretty, it's like reflecting off the waves of the water

Being a bit stalker-ish I had to snap some pics of these homes, are they not to die for?
A stone's throw from the beach...
I wonder what the people would think if they saw me ...

loving my ring, and being engaged!!
